I've just finished working on the York Zeppelin raid, made by L21 on the night of 2/3 May 1916. I created a map on Google Earth to help. Thought some might be interested. 1 killed in Nunthorpe Av, 2 in Up. Price St & 6 in St. Saviour's Place. Nunthorpe Hall was VAD hospital. pic.twitter.com/fDAr9EqfIo […]
Perhaps the most life-changing and influential ('fire fuelling') birthday present I ever received, this copy of 'Before Endeavours Fade' got some real hammer through the mid '80s. Full of my youthful annotations and additions, it's now an historical document in it's own right!😆 pic.twitter.com/q6QpL7l4WI — DOMara (@croonaert) January 25, 2020 RT @croonaert: Perhaps the most […]

By far the most powerful image from the Turner family album is this one of Mr & Mrs Turner visiting the grave of their son Harold in Bethune, France for the first time. Whenever I'm in the area I try to go and visit Harold's grave, and imagine them there every time. pic.twitter.com/p2zqASLP2Z — Dan […]

This Project
Charting the daily events of World War One, this history project aims to provide a bite-sized and engaging way to follow the events of 100 years ago. Using a variety of sources, I aim to refer to the main events of the war on the centenary of their occurrence. However, it's not just about the main events, I have also taken time to research lesser known events in order to help the reader to feel engaged with the scope of the war.
